The Supreme Court has expressed strong displeasure over the failure to implement free treatment for economically weaker sections in private hospitals in Delhi. It directed the Delhi government to formulate a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure free treatment for EWS patients.
The court had earlier issued contempt notices to 51 private hospitals, but noted that only 4 of them are complying with the rules. The Supreme Court emphasized strict enforcement of free healthcare provisions for the poor.
