The Hyderabad Police have launched a new AI powered system to closely monitor social media activities and identify provocative or misleading content online. The application, named Social Media Observation and Cyber Intelligence, was inaugurated by Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar. The system aims to strengthen law and order by tracking harmful online activities and analysing suspicious digital movements.
Developed by the Hyderabad Police IT wing, the advanced platform can automatically detect hate speech, sensitive religious content, and misleading social media posts. The integrated intelligent dashboard combines Dial 100 calls, internal surveillance data, and information related to major incidents in the city, helping officials gain real-time situational awareness.
The system also focuses on issues such as drug trafficking, women’s safety, child abuse content, cyberbullying, and online stalking. AI models classify posts into high, medium, and low-risk categories and alert authorities accordingly. It can also report objectionable content to social media companies for removal and continuously monitor public complaints until they are resolved through a unique tracking system.
