Pollution Control Board Focuses on Diwali Celebrations

The State Pollution Control Board (PCB) has urged people to use only green crackers while celebrating Diwali. In a statement issued on Friday, the board appealed to the public to avoid conventional firecrackers and choose environmentally friendlier alternatives to reduce air pollution during the festival.

To ensure strict implementation of the rules, the Principal Secretary of the Environment and Forest Department issued instructions to the concerned departments based on a letter from the PCB Member Secretary. The board also expressed concern over the rising pollution levels in Visakhapatnam and stressed the need for measures to control pollution during the festive celebrations.
