Global Models Track Potential Cyclone in Bay of Bengal

Some global weather models are indicating the possibility of a depression forming over the Bay of Bengal after September 20. The system could potentially intensify further if atmospheric and oceanic conditions remain favourable. However, this remains a model-based forecast at present, and the India Meteorological Department has not issued an official cyclone warning for the Bay of Bengal.

Weather analysts are closely monitoring factors such as El Niño conditions, sea-surface temperatures and wind patterns, which could influence the system’s development. Current model projections suggest a possible track towards the coastal region between north Andhra Pradesh and west Odisha, but the formation, intensity and exact path of any potential storm remain uncertain. Further updates from the IMD will provide greater clarity as the system develops.
