In a unique ritual to pray for rainfall, villagers in Munyal village of Mudalagi taluk in Belagavi district, Karnataka, organized a symbolic wedding for two donkeys. With rains eluding the region and crops drying up, the villagers turned to a traditional belief passed down through generations. The male donkey was named Kantesh, while the female was named Kasturi, and the wedding was conducted with full rituals and customs.
The event witnessed active participation from villagers, who arranged a grand feast for attendees. Elders of the village stated that due to the lack of rainfall, agricultural activities have been severely affected. Following age-old customs, they performed the donkey wedding hoping it would bring rains and restore normalcy to farming in the region.
