Microsoft has announced the launch of Microsoft Frontier Co, a new business unit dedicated to helping large enterprise customers deploy customised artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. Backed by an investment of $2.5 billion, the division will include more than 6,000 employees, including engineering specialists, and will leverage Microsoft's existing AI technologies to deliver tailored AI implementations for businesses.
The move strengthens Microsoft's position in the rapidly growing enterprise AI market, where companies such as Amazon Web Services, OpenAI, and Anthropic have also expanded their AI deployment initiatives. Microsoft's extensive client network, including Fortune 500 companies such as the London Stock Exchange Group, Unilever, Land O'Lakes, and Accenture, is expected to provide a significant competitive advantage. Microsoft Commercial Business CEO Judson Althoff said Frontier Co aims to become the industry's largest and most outcome-driven engineering organisation for enterprise AI.
