Google has announced the expansion of Gemini in Chrome to Android users in India. The AI assistant works directly within the browser, allowing users to interact with the webpage they are viewing without leaving the current tab or switching between multiple applications. Gemini in Chrome can summarise lengthy articles, answer questions based on webpage content and connect with Google services such as Keep and Calendar.
The browser assistant also integrates Nano Banana, allowing users to generate or edit images while browsing. Google is additionally rolling out Auto Browse, its more agentic Gemini feature, on desktop and Android in India. Available to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers, Auto Browse can perform certain multi-step web tasks, such as filling lengthy forms, booking parking or ordering groceries. Google says the feature includes safeguards against threats such as prompt injection and may ask users for confirmation before carrying out sensitive actions. On Android, Gemini in Chrome is initially available in US English and UK English, while Google plans to introduce more languages in the future.
