India won the toss and elected to bat in the second Test against Sri Lanka. The match marked Saransh Jain’s Test debut for India. After consistently performing well in domestic cricket, Jain finally earned his opportunity to represent the national team.
At 33 years and 145 days, Jain became the oldest Indian to make his Test debut in the 21st century. He surpassed Saba Karim, who made his Test debut against Bangladesh in Dhaka in 2000 at the age of 32 years and 362 days. Jain received his Test cap from Ravindra Jadeja.
