The battle for the fourth and final playoff spot in IPL 2026 has become extremely intense, with Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals still in contention. While Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad have already secured their playoff berths, the remaining slot will be decided through the final league-stage matches scheduled this weekend. Rajasthan Royals currently lead the race with 14 points, followed by Punjab Kings and KKR with 13 points each, while Delhi Capitals remain alive with 12 points.
Punjab Kings will face Lucknow Super Giants on May 23 at the Ekana Stadium, where a victory would take them to 15 points and strengthen their playoff hopes, while a defeat would eliminate them. On May 24, Rajasthan Royals will take on Mumbai Indians in a crucial afternoon clash. A win for Rajasthan would seal their playoff qualification with 16 points and officially knock out Punjab, KKR and Delhi. However, if Rajasthan lose, the evening clash between KKR and Delhi Capitals at Eden Gardens could become decisive. KKR can qualify if both Rajasthan and Punjab lose and Kolkata secure a win. Delhi’s chances, meanwhile, could depend heavily on net run rate and even weather interruptions.
