India’s women’s hockey team secured a place in the second round of the FIH Women’s Hockey World Cup after playing out a goalless draw against England in their final Pool D match on Thursday. The 0-0 result took India’s tally to five points and helped them finish second in the group. India had earlier drawn 2-2 with China in their opening match before registering an impressive 6-1 victory over South Africa.
China topped Pool D with seven points, while India finished second to qualify for the next stage. England ended their campaign in third place with four points. India’s defence stood firm against England’s late pressure and managed to preserve the crucial draw. The result ensured India progressed to the second round of the tournament.
