Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic advanced to the Wimbledon semifinals after a thrilling five set victory over Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime. The marathon quarterfinal lasted 5 hours and 15 minutes, with Djokovic winning 7-6 (12/10), 3-6, 6-3, 6-7 (4/7), 7-6 (10/4). He will now face World No. 1 Jannik Sinner in the semifinals.
After the match, Djokovic made a humorous comment about football star Lionel Messi. Referring to Argentina's 90 minute FIFA World Cup quarterfinal win over Egypt, he joked, "I'd love to play a 90 minute match like Messi. If possible, I'd happily swap my 5 hour, 15 minute match with his 90 minutes". The remark quickly went viral on social media. Djokovic also created history by reaching his 15th Wimbledon semifinal and the 55th Grand Slam semifinal of his career.
