Story:

Set in the 1980s, the story revolves around Kalidas alias Kali, played by Dhruva Sarja, who works as a kerosene dealer and dreams of marrying Kodavali Lakshmi. Kali idolizes Deva, a feared gangster played by Sanjay Dutt. However, unexpected incidents force Deva’s gang to target Kali and his family. The film follows Kali’s transformation from an innocent man into a fierce fighter determined to protect his loved ones. Kichcha Sudeep appears in a powerful extended cameo as Bhairava.

Plus Points:

The major strength of KD: The Devil lies in its stylish presentation and grand visual appeal. Dhruva Sarja delivers an impressive performance, especially in the action sequences and emotional moments. Sanjay Dutt brings strong screen presence as Deva, while Kichcha Sudeep’s cameo adds excitement to the film. The action choreography, production values, and Arjun Janya’s powerful background score elevate several scenes. The interval and climax episodes are engaging and designed to satisfy mass audiences.

Minus Points:

Despite its stylish execution, the film suffers from a predictable and outdated gangster storyline. The narration becomes slow in several parts, especially during the romantic track and emotional portions. Some scenes feel unnecessarily stretched, affecting the overall pace of the film. The second half lacks strong emotional depth, and a few supporting characters are underutilized. The editing could have been much sharper to make the narrative more gripping.

Technical Department:

Director Prem presents the film with stylish visuals and grand production design. Though the storyline feels familiar, the action choreography and cinematic presentation keep the audience engaged. Arjun Janya’s background score stands out, while the editing could have been crisper in the slower portions.
