TDP MLA Kalava Srinivasulu alleged that the YSRCP was attempting to obstruct local body elections out of fear of defeat. He claimed that the move was intended to delay the polls and prevent central funds from reaching Andhra Pradesh. He made these remarks while addressing the media at the TDP central office in Mangalagiri on Thursday.
Srinivasulu said the TDP, Jana Sena and BJP alliance had jointly decided to provide more than 34% reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) in local body elections. He questioned why YSRCP chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had not announced his party’s support for the same reservation percentage. He challenged the YSRCP to demonstrate its commitment to BC welfare by extending its support, adding that the TDP had consistently stood by the backward communities.
