Actor Prakash Raj has strongly condemned the arrest of journalists Prashna Ravan and KVR in Andhra Pradesh. Taking to X, he alleged that silencing those who question the government is an attack on democracy and described the action as "fascism" and "cowardice". He also criticized Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan over the issue.
Prakash Raj questioned whether arresting people for raising questions could be called democracy. He remarked that if previous generations had silenced every critical voice, democracy would not exist today. He further alleged that the ruling leadership appeared to be adopting the same political culture as its alliance partners.
Prashna Ravan was arrested by Pithapuram Police over alleged objectionable remarks made during a Dalit Christian meeting in Eluru, while journalist KVR was detained in Hyderabad over comments related to Minister Nara Lokesh. Cases have also been registered against advocate Jada Sravan Kumar over alleged hate speech. The arrests have sparked political debate in both Telugu states.
