Trump Rejected Proposal to Send Indian Troops as Peacekeepers in Ukraine

A new book titled Regime Change, authored by Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, has revealed fresh details about the United States' efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war during Donald Trump’s second term as President. According to the book, a high-level meeting was held in the Oval Office ten days after Trump’s inauguration, where retired Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg presented a draft peace plan that included deploying foreign peacekeeping forces to monitor a ceasefire in Ukraine.

While the proposal initially considered troops from European countries such as France, Britain, and the Netherlands, Vice President JD Vance reportedly opposed the idea, arguing that deploying NATO-linked forces could provoke Russia and escalate tensions. He instead suggested considering troops from non-European countries, including India and Saudi Arabia. However, Trump reportedly rejected the proposal, stating that India would never agree to such involvement. The book also claims Trump criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, questioning his leadership and handling of the conflict.
