Cinema and politics have shared a long-standing relationship in Tamil Nadu, with personalities such as M. G. Ramachandran, M. Karunanidhi, J. Jayalalithaa, and more recently Vijay making successful political journeys. Amid this backdrop, rumours surfaced on social media claiming that actor Suriya was preparing to enter politics. The speculation gained momentum after comments made by R. Veeramani at a meeting of Suriya's All India Fans Welfare Association in Chennai.
Responding to the rumours, Suriya's team issued an official clarification, stating that the actor has no plans to enter politics at present. The team said Veeramani's remarks were purely his personal opinion and did not reflect Suriya's views. It also clarified that the social initiatives undertaken through the Agaram Foundation are driven solely by a commitment to public welfare and have no political agenda. Suriya is currently focused on his upcoming pan-India films.
