Rahul Gandhi’s Women Empowerment Message Draws Dig at Congress from Kiren Rijiju

Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi has stressed the importance of women’s participation in every sphere of society. In a video message shared as part of an “Ask Me Anything” session, Rahul said the potential of Indian women remains restricted not only in politics and business but also within their homes. He observed that women often lack the freedom to express themselves or even imagine freely, and said a country cannot truly progress unless women have equal opportunities and their voices are heard.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju responded to Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on social media. Taking a dig at the Congress leader, Rijiju said it appeared that a positive message had finally come from the party and hoped that Congress would now extend unconditional support to the Women’s Reservation Bill. The government is seeking to advance legislation providing 33% reservation for women in legislative bodies. The issue has also become linked to the proposed delimitation of Lok Sabha constituencies, with the Congress and other opposition parties raising objections over the proposed approach.
