Telangana BJP president N. Ramachander Rao has alleged that the Congress government is filing illegal cases against BJP workers who are distributing forms related to voter-list verification in Hyderabad as per the prescribed rules. Speaking at a press conference at the BJP state office on Tuesday, he alleged that the AIMIM had been winning in the Old City for years by relying on bogus votes, while the BRS and Congress benefited politically through an alleged understanding with the party. He claimed that these parties were now worried that their political base would be affected by the ongoing voter-list purification process.
Ramachander Rao said the BJP, as a responsible political party, had the right to distribute forms to verify voter details. He warned that the party would not remain silent if cases were filed against its workers for obstructing a lawful process. He urged people not to have any doubts about the ‘SIR’ process, claiming that only illegal votes belonging to Rohingyas, Bangladeshis and others would be removed. He also called upon the people of Telangana to reject what he described as propaganda by the Congress and Majlis parties. He further alleged that the Congress was conspiring against constitutional institutions with the objective of making Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister.
