BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) has alleged that the Congress government is weakening the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme and that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is attempting to discontinue it. He also criticised the government for not fulfilling the election promise of providing one tola of gold along with the financial assistance. KTR made the remarks on X as the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes completed 12 years.
KTR said the schemes have benefited 16.78 lakh poor families over the past 12 years and played an important role in reducing the financial burden on parents during their daughters’ marriages. He alleged that the Congress government was trying to dilute the schemes instead of strengthening them. The schemes, launched in 2014, have provided financial assistance to eligible families, with the total number of beneficiaries reaching 16,78,347, according to recent reports.
