RK Roja has returned to acting after nearly a decade with the Tamil film Anbe Diana. The actress and YSRCP leader has mostly stayed away from films in recent years, appearing occasionally in television shows. Directed by and starring Pari Elavazhagan, the film features Ramya Ranganathan as the female lead. Released in Tamil theatres in July, Anbe Diana received a positive response and is now gearing up for its OTT premiere on SonyLIV from August 28. The film will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
The story follows Krishna, a middle-class young man who falls in love with Diana, an Anglo-Indian woman with a free-spirited lifestyle and habits such as drinking and smoking. Krishna’s mother Sarala, played by RK Roja, strongly opposes their relationship and fixes her son’s marriage with another girl from their community. The story revolves around Krishna’s efforts to stand by Diana and whether his love brings a change in Sarala’s thinking. With romance, family emotions and social differences at its core, Anbe Diana marks a notable acting comeback for RK Roja and will now reach a wider South Indian audience through its OTT release.
