Controversial Punjabi Film Streams Directly on OTT

The biographical film, originally titled Punjab 95, is based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who exposed the alleged illegal killings of nearly 25,000 people in Punjab. Diljit Dosanjh plays the lead role, while the film is directed by Honey Trehan. Despite being completed nearly three years ago, the project faced significant hurdles due to censorship objections.

According to reports, the Central Board of Film Certification recommended as many as 127 cuts, making a theatrical release difficult. The makers eventually renamed the film Satluj and released it directly on ZEE5 without much publicity. The film has received a positive response from audiences in North India, while its reception among South Indian viewers remains to be seen.
