Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) will soon receive 1,085 electric buses from Olectra Greentech Limited (OGL). TSRTC has issued a Letter of Intent (LoI) to the company under the PM e-Drive scheme, which promotes eco-friendly electric vehicles through Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL).
Olectra, the largest manufacturer of electric commercial vehicles in India, will operate these buses through its subsidiary, Evey Trans Pvt. Ltd. The new buses will provide sustainable, efficient and environment-friendly public transport in Hyderabad. Each bus can travel more than 250 kilometers on a single charge, equipped with modern air suspension, wheelchair accessibility and a 45-minute opportunity charging feature. Based in Hyderabad, Olectra has already deployed over 3,600 electric vehicles across India and holds orders for around 10,000 more. The company’s vehicles have collectively covered more than 500 million green kilometers, helping to reduce carbon emissions significantly. Along with buses, Olectra also manufactures electric tippers that support urban infrastructure development.
Olectra Managing Director Mahesh Babu stated, “This is a historic milestone for us. The prestigious order under the PM e-Drive initiative strengthens our commitment to ‘Make in India’ and our goal of producing world-class electric buses. We are proud to work with TSRTC to deliver efficient, comfortable and sustainable public transport that supports a greener India”.
