

Veteran Tamil film producer K. Rajan reportedly died by suicide on Sunday after jumping into the Cooum River in Chennai’s Adyar area. According to reports, Rajan asked his driver to stop the car before stepping out and jumping into the river. Fire and rescue personnel later recovered his body, while police launched an investigation into the incident. Reports suggest financial distress may have been one of the reasons behind the tragic step.
K. Rajan began his journey in the Tamil film industry as a producer with the 1983 film Brammacharigal. He produced films like Aval Paavam and Ninaikkatha Naalillai, and also served as the President of the Chennai Distributors Association. Apart from production, he acted in nearly 18 films including Pambu Sattai, Thunivu, and Bakāsuran. Rajan also directed films and worked as a story writer for projects like Thangamana Thangachi and Chinnapoovai Killathe. His demise has left the Tamil film fraternity in deep sorrow.
