The upcoming Telugu film “Idupu Kayitham”, starring Priyadarshi and Nagadurga in lead roles, has sparked discussions and controversy ever since its announcement. The film is being presented by creative director Sukumar and produced by Bunny Vasu under Geetha Arts 2 banner, with the story set against a Telangana backdrop.
The title has drawn mixed reactions on social media due to its cultural meaning in the Telangana dialect. In local usage, “Idupu Kayitham” refers to a formal agreement made between a couple when they decide to separate, often documented in the presence of village elders. Linking such a sensitive term to a film title has triggered debates online.
The controversy has also taken a regional turn, with heated exchanges between Andhra and Telangana social media users over dialect usage and cultural representation. Producer Bunny Vasu clarified that the title is purely based on the story context and dismissed the criticism, stating that audiences will judge the film by its content once released.
