

The Indian film industry is mourning the demise of veteran actor, director, and writer K. Bhagyaraj, who passed away on June 27, 2026, at the age of 73 after suffering a severe heart attack. He was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai, where he breathed his last during treatment. His sudden demise has shocked the Tamil and Telugu film industries.
Megastar Chiranjeevi expressed deep grief over Bhagyaraj's death. He said he was heartbroken and unable to believe the news, especially after meeting him just two days earlier at Khushbu's daughter's wedding in Goa. Chiranjeevi recalled that Bhagyaraj was cheerful and active during the celebrations and praised him as a brilliant director, screenwriter, and actor who made unforgettable contributions to Indian cinema.
Actor Venkatesh also paid tribute, stating that Bhagyaraj's stories crossed language barriers and touched millions of hearts. He said acting in films like Sundarakanda and Abbayigaru with Bhagyaraj was a memorable experience. Bhagyaraj acted in nearly 75 films and directed around 25 movies, leaving behind a remarkable legacy in Indian cinema.
