Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming film Ramayana: Part One, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, has generated considerable international buzz ahead of its theatrical release scheduled for November 5. Reports suggest that the film has earned more than $2 million through advance ticket bookings worldwide, indicating promising interest in overseas markets. With Sony Pictures handling international distribution, expectations for the film’s performance abroad have increased. The key question now is whether Ramayana: Part One can surpass the overseas opening-weekend record set by Ranbir Kapoor’s 2023 blockbuster Animal.
Animal reportedly collected $13.19 million during its opening weekend in overseas markets, with its first-day overseas earnings estimated at around ₹39.90 crore. Against this backdrop, the film’s performance in North America is attracting particular attention. Advance bookings, audience turnout for premium screenings and reviews following its release are expected to influence its opening numbers. Given its grand scale and the international appeal of the Indian epic, Ramayana: Part One has the potential to make a strong impact overseas. However, whether it can break Animal’s record will become clear only after its theatrical release.
