Priyanka Chopra Recalls Vijay’s Massive Stardom During ‘Thamizhan’ Shoot!

Global star Priyanka Chopra Jonas made her acting debut alongside Tamil superstar and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay in the 2002 film Thamizhan. Following Vijay’s rise as Chief Minister, Priyanka’s old interview about working with him has resurfaced on social media. She revealed that she was shocked by Vijay’s fan following during the shooting of the film and recalled how hundreds of fans would gather at the sets just to watch him perform.

Priyanka said she did not know Tamil at the time and memorized dialogues by writing them down on paper. She added that watching Vijay’s fans react to him made her feel as though they treated him like a god. Priyanka’s mother Madhu Chopra also praised Vijay, calling him a gentleman who treated Priyanka with great respect during the shoot. She said the experience of working in ‘Thamizhan’ inspired Priyanka to seriously pursue acting as a career. Directed by Majith, the action drama was released in 2002 and received a positive response.
