Telangana folk music is creating waves on YouTube and social media, with Basinga Balaalu emerging as one of the latest viral sensations. Featuring folk dancers Eshwar Sai and Vaishnavi, the song has reportedly crossed 86 million views within just two months. Its authentic Telangana flavour, catchy rhythm and simple dance moves have helped it reach audiences beyond the state, with numerous reels and short videos being created to the song.
According to choreographer Shekhar Virus, the song was made with a budget of around ₹11 lakh, covering artist and crew remuneration, location setup, properties, rehearsals, food and promotional expenses. He said the hook steps were deliberately designed to be easy for professional dancers as well as ordinary people, particularly women and social-media creators, to replicate. While the exact revenue generated by the song has not been officially disclosed, reports suggest that it may have earned more than ₹25 lakh, potentially making it a highly profitable folk-music release.
