Once the kidney’s filtering units are damaged, simply drinking more water cannot reverse the condition. In fact, people with advanced kidney disease may face serious complications if they consume too much water, including swelling, increased blood pressure, and fluid buildup in the lungs. Healthy adults can typically consume about 2–3 liters of fluids daily, but people with kidney issues should drink water only according to their doctor’s advice.
