

SS Rajamouli’s ambitious global action-adventure film Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu in the lead role, continues to generate massive excitement across the country. Even before the completion of its shoot, every update about the film has become a major talking point among cinema lovers. With a reported budget of over ₹1,200 crore and a story packed with international-scale elements, expectations for the project have reached unprecedented levels. Recently, fresh speculation emerged regarding the film’s digital streaming rights and a possible association with Netflix.
The discussion gained momentum after Netflix India’s Vice President of Content, Monica Shergill, responded to a question about Varanasi's OTT rights during the trailer launch event of the platform’s first Telugu original series, Super Subbu. While she did not officially confirm the deal, her response hinted at future surprises, fueling industry speculation. Starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran alongside Mahesh Babu, the film is being produced by K.L. Narayana with music composed by M.M. Keeravani. Scheduled for a worldwide release on April 7, 2027, Varanasi remains one of the most anticipated Indian films, with fans eagerly awaiting official clarity on its OTT partnership.
