X Translates ‘Chief Minister Vijay’ as ‘Stalin’

A translation error on social media platform X has sparked discussion after the phrase ‘Chief Minister Vijay’ was reportedly translated as ‘Chief Minister Stalin’. On Saturday, Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi visited Chennai and met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay. Following the meeting, the Chief Minister’s Office shared a photograph of Vijay welcoming Rahul Gandhi on its official X account. The post mentioned their meeting and interaction.

However, clicking the ‘Show Translation’ option reportedly displayed the name of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin instead of Vijay in the English translation. The discrepancy has since gone viral on social media, drawing attention to the translation error. The incident has triggered discussion over the accuracy of automated translations, particularly when political leaders’ names and official designations are involved.
