US Sailors Face Hardships in the Arabian Sea

Sailors aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, which has been deployed in the Arabian Sea as part of U.S. military operations against Iran, are reportedly facing severe mental health challenges after months at sea. Families of crew members have raised concerns about deteriorating morale, food and water shortages, poor sanitation and malfunctioning toilets. Reports say the prolonged deployment and uncertainty over when they will return home are adding to their distress.

According to reports citing sailors’ families, several crew members have attempted to go overboard, with one sailor recently rescued after an incident. Families said they were informed about suicide attempts by Navy ombudsmen, while reports have cited six such attempts. The U.S. Navy and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth have pushed back against some of the claims, saying the crew is being supported.
