The United States launched fresh airstrikes on Iran, targeting military bases and port infrastructure shortly after attacks on three commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz. According to US Central Command, the operation was aimed at holding Iran accountable for targeting civilian vessels in international waters, escalating tensions in the region.
US officials confirmed that key targets included Iran’s air defense systems, missile storage units, drone launch sites, and coastal surveillance networks. Explosions were reported in Qeshm and Bandar Abbas. The strikes coincided with President Donald Trump’s visit to Turkey for a NATO summit. Earlier, the US also revoked Iran’s oil sales license, a move strongly condemned by Tehran.
