Telangana Voters Cleared for Inclusion in Final Electoral Rolls

As part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana, 48,88,076 electors have so far been found eligible for inclusion in the final voter list, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C. Sudharsan Reddy said. Releasing the details on Tuesday, he said the voter-roll revision process was progressing at a rapid pace.

A total of 92,88,180 notices were generated over logical discrepancies and non-mapping issues in the electoral rolls, of which 88,52,173 have already been delivered to voters. So far, 61,87,444 hearings have been completed under the supervision of Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant EROs. Another 12,99,368 cases are currently under verification by District Election Officers (DEOs).

The draft electoral roll published on August 17 contained around 3.38 crore electors. Of these, approximately 73.39 lakh were identified under the ASDS category—Absent, Shifted, Dead or Duplicate. The large-scale revision exercise was undertaken to verify voter records and improve the transparency and accuracy of the electoral rolls.

The schedule for the revision process has also been revised. Under the new schedule, October 7 has been fixed as the last date for filing claims and objections. The process of disposing of claims and objections will continue until November 5, while the final electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on November 9.

The CEO urged voters who have received notices from the Election Commission to respond promptly and appear for hearings with the required supporting documents. Officials have said that voters who fail to respond to the notices and complete the verification process will not be considered for inclusion in the final electoral roll.
