Telangana Plans to Transfer Unused Govt Land to TGIIC

The Telangana government is reportedly considering transferring unused land under various government departments to the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC). The move is aimed at bringing vacant government land under a single agency so that land required for industrial projects and development activities can be allotted directly through TGIIC. The government has already sought details from departments on the extent of land under their control, its current use and whether any parcels have been leased out. The proposal is expected to come up for discussion at the state Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy at the Secretariat on Friday.

The Cabinet is also likely to discuss bringing government polytechnic colleges under the Shakti department, which already oversees institutions such as Young India Skill University, ATCs and ITIs. Other key agenda items may include increasing the capacity of the Gudendoddi and Gattu lift irrigation schemes, appointing a consultancy for a detailed study of Gudendoddi, and discussing reported deficiencies in the Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla components of the Kaleshwaram project. The Cabinet may also consider allocating land to women’s groups for silo bag facilities in major paddy-producing districts, Metro Phase-I funding and Phase-II expansion, changes related to the minimum age for entering legislatures, Section 22-A prohibited lands and the conduct of Assembly sessions.
