Filmmaker Sudha Kongara has received significant relief from the Madras High Court in a dispute over her remuneration for the film Parasakthi, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sreeleela. The film was released during the Pongal season but failed to perform as expected at the box office. Following the film’s release, Sudha Kongara approached the court over the alleged non-payment of her pending remuneration of Rs. 8.39 crore by the production company Don Pictures.
The Madras High Court had initially suggested resolving the dispute through mediation. However, the mediation process could not reach a conclusion after the appointed mediators withdrew from the case. Following the hearing, the court has now ruled in favour of Sudha Kongara and directed Don Pictures to pay the pending amount of Rs. 8.39 crore within four weeks. The court further ordered that if the payment is not made within the stipulated period, the amount should be recovered first from the profits generated by the production house’s future films.
