Andhra Pradesh’s ‘Stree Shakti’ free bus travel scheme for women has reached a historic milestone, with more than 100 crore free journeys recorded since its launch on August 15 last year. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said an average of 24 lakh women are using the facility every day. The scheme has benefited students, working women and those travelling for daily employment by reducing their travel expenses and providing greater freedom of mobility.
According to the Chief Minister, women have saved around Rs 3,550 crore through the scheme so far. He said the savings could support children’s education, household needs and families’ future requirements. Chandrababu thanked women for their support and congratulated the APSRTC management and staff for their efforts in making the scheme a major milestone.
