President Murmu Praises Women’s Empowerment at National Saras Mela 2026 in Amaravati

President Droupadi Murmu has praised the National Saras Mela 2026, being held in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, for its role in promoting women’s empowerment and highlighting the skills of rural women. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu attended the event. In her address, the President said that a woman’s determination can help her reach great heights and described her own life journey as a source of inspiration for women.

The President highlighted the importance of the Saras Mela in supporting the financial independence of women and creating marketing opportunities for products made by self-help groups. The event features around 650 stalls showcasing rural women’s talents, traditional handicrafts and locally made products. She also emphasised the need to strengthen marketing opportunities throughout the year so that women entrepreneurs can expand their businesses and achieve sustainable economic growth.
