People’s Government Inspired by Ilamma - CM Revanth Reddy

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy paid rich tributes to Chakali Ilamma, a warrior of the Telangana armed struggle and a symbol of self-respect for the weaker and underprivileged sections. He said Ilamma’s struggle for land, livelihood and rights against oppression and exploitation continues to inspire Telangana society. The Chief Minister said her path of social justice, equality and self-respect remains an example for the present generation. On the occasion of her 131st birth anniversary, he said the people’s government, inspired by Ilamma, is giving priority to the welfare of BCs, the poor, women and backward sections. Revanth Reddy recalled that nearly eight decades ago, Ilamma had raised the banner of resistance against the oppressive rule of feudal lords in Telangana.

The Chief Minister said the Telangana Thalli statue was designed drawing inspiration from women warriors such as Sammakka-Saralamma and Chakali Ilamma. He said the Women’s University at Koti was named after Chakali Ilamma in recognition of her contribution. The courage and fighting spirit demonstrated by Ilamma and other women warriors of Telangana, he said, continue to inspire future generations. Revanth Reddy stated that the government is taking steps to provide better education for BC students, improved facilities in Gurukul schools and hostels, and greater economic empowerment for youth and women. He stressed that ensuring equal opportunities, dignity and justice for every section of society would be the true tribute to Chakali Ilamma.
