Telangana Minister Konda Surekha has directed officials to make elaborate arrangements for the Ashada Bonalu Festival and Kalyanotsavam at the historic Balkampet Sri Yellamma Temple in Hyderabad. During a review meeting held ahead of the celebrations, she instructed officials from the Police Department, GHMC, TGSPDCL, Hyderabad Water Board, Health Department, Fire Services, TGSRTC, Roads & Buildings Department, Traffic Police, Cultural Department, and Information & Public Relations Department to work in close coordination to ensure the smooth conduct of the festivities.
The Minister said the 700-year-old temple holds immense spiritual significance, with devotees believing that offering prayers at Balkampet Yellamma is equivalent to visiting the eighteen Shakti Peethas. As thousands of devotees are expected to attend the Kalyanotsavam from July 21 to 23, she stressed the need for strict safety measures, uninterrupted power and water supply, effective crowd management, sanitation, medical services, and traffic regulation. She also directed officials to take special precautions in view of the monsoon season so that devotees can have a safe and comfortable darshan, further enhancing the temple's national and global reputation.
