A low-pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal and is expected to intensify into a depression within 72 hours, according to the weather department. The system is likely to influence weather conditions across the Telugu states, with rainfall expected to continue over the next three days. Officials have particularly warned of the possibility of heavy rainfall in several districts of Telangana during the coming 48 hours.
Yellow alerts have been issued for areas including the erstwhile Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam and Nalgonda districts. Weather officials have also said that the southwest monsoon is currently undergoing an active withdrawal phase across the country. At the same time, rising temperatures in Telangana have been reported in connection with El Niño conditions. Residents in the alerted districts are advised to follow official weather updates and exercise caution during periods of heavy rain.
