Local Body Polls Are Crucial for Party Cadre : YS Jagan

YS Jagan has asked YSRCP leaders and cadre to approach the upcoming local body elections with seriousness and a clear strategy. Addressing a broad-level meeting on local body elections, the former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister said these elections should not be viewed merely as a contest over victory and defeat.

Jagan said the elections are also an opportunity for the party to stand firmly by its workers. He stressed that every cadre member should have confidence that the party leadership will stand with them even if they face pressure or alleged harassment from the ruling party.

He also highlighted the welfare-oriented approach followed by his government and recalled the importance given to the election manifesto. According to Jagan, the party treated its manifesto as a sacred commitment and claimed that around 99 percent of the promises made were implemented during the previous government.

Jagan further said the manifesto was not confined to a document after the election. He claimed that a welfare calendar was announced and schemes were implemented in the months promised to beneficiaries. He presented this as an example of the administration’s commitment to its electoral assurances.

Another major point highlighted by Jagan was the village and ward volunteer system. He said his government appointed a volunteer for approximately every 50 to 60 households to ensure that welfare benefits reached people directly. According to him, the system was designed to reduce the scope for discrimination and corruption while making government welfare accessible at people’s doorsteps.
