The United States government has approved providing essential support services for key weapon systems previously sold to India. The assistance will cover Apache attack helicopters and M777A2 ultra-light howitzers, including logistics, maintenance, training, and technical support. The US State Department informed the Congress about the deal.
The contract is estimated at around ₹4,557 crore (USD 482 million). The Defense Security Cooperation Agency has issued the notification for the deal. Major defence companies such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and BAE Systems will be involved. This move is expected to strengthen India’s operational defence capabilities significantly.
