Kalvakuntla Kavitha, president of Telangana Rakshana Sena, hoisted the national flag at the party’s state office in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, as part of the 80th Independence Day celebrations. Extending Independence Day greetings to the people, she said it was important to understand India’s history and explain the struggles of ancestors to children. She stressed that only those who understand history can build a better future.
Kavitha said people should learn about the exploitation and injustices during British rule, including the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, artificial famines and the use of Indians in the World Wars. She argued that the mindset associated with British rule should also be left behind even after independence. Calling for greater respect for Indian languages and culture, she urged people to teach children about their history and the sacrifices of previous generations.
