

Telangana Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy has written to Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, requesting an increase in paddy procurement targets and an extension of CMR deadlines. A Telangana delegation met the Union Minister in New Delhi to discuss issues related to farmers and procurement.
The state has procured 80.09 lakh metric tonnes of paddy so far and expects total procurement to cross 152 lakh metric tonnes during the 2025-26 marketing season. Telangana has requested the Centre to raise the rice procurement target from 35 lakh metric tonnes to 54.50 lakh metric tonnes. The state also sought a 60-day extension for the 2024-25 CMR deadline and a 120-day extension for the 2025-26 Kharif CMR deadline.
