Visakhapatnam Airport, which has a history spanning around 80 years, is set for a major transition. Domestic flight operations from the airport are reportedly scheduled to stop from midnight. The development marks the end of an important chapter for an airport that has served the city and its passengers for decades. The move is also expected to evoke an emotional response among regular travellers and residents.
Meanwhile, the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram, located in Vizianagaram district, is set to begin flight operations from Monday, August 17. With flights shifting to the new airport, domestic operations at Visakhapatnam Airport are being discontinued, according to the information in the report. An exception is reportedly available in emergency situations. The transition marks a significant new phase for civil aviation in Andhra Pradesh.
