ECI Holds Key Meeting on SIR

The Election Commission of India held a key meeting amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. CEC Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi attended the meeting, where the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and related issues were discussed. The Commission also announced changes to the process for people who receive SIR notices.

According to the ECI, people who receive SIR notices generally do not need to appear personally for hearings, except in exceptional cases. Booth Level Officers will visit the concerned voters at their homes and assist with the required process, including uploading documents. The Commission has also extended the deadline for filing objections related to the SIR in Delhi until November 30.
