EC Statement on SIR Puts Misconceptions to Rest - Chandrababu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the joint statement issued by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners S. S. Sandhu and Vivek Joshi on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls had put various misconceptions to rest. In a post on ‘X’ on Saturday, Naidu said the statement reaffirmed the integrity and credibility of India’s constitutional institutions. He added that decisions related to the SIR had been taken collectively and in accordance with institutional procedures.

Naidu said election results reflect the verdict of the people and that accepting both victory and defeat with dignity is a leadership quality in a strong democracy. He stressed the importance of respecting constitutional institutions and said preserving public trust in India’s democratic process was a collective responsibility of leaders across political parties. The Election Commission, amid reports of internal differences, said on September 26 that decisions concerning the SIR had received unanimous approval from the full Commission.
