A Delhi-based startup named ‘CarryMen’ has grabbed attention on social media by offering personal shopping assistance services in crowded markets. The company provides helpers who accompany customers during shopping and carry their bags throughout the visit. Apart from carrying bags, the assistants also help customers by waiting in queues at food counters, accompanying them to parking areas or metro stations, and offering additional services such as mobile charging, umbrellas, folding chairs and baby carriers for extra charges.
The startup charges around ₹149 per hour for its services, but the concept has triggered mixed reactions online. While some users reacted humorously, others questioned whether human resources should be used for such tasks. A few social media users also raised concerns about how much of the earnings actually reach the workers after platform commissions. Despite the debate, the startup has quickly become a trending topic across digital platforms.
