Congress Protest Outside CEC Office.. Mahesh Kumar Goud Makes Strong Allegations

Congress leaders and workers held a protest rally from the Indira Gandhi statue on Necklace Road to the Election Commission office in Hyderabad. TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Sridhar Babu and Azharuddin, MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, MLAs Danam Nagender and Sri Ganesh, along with other party leaders, participated in the rally. Later, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, Mahesh Kumar Goud, the ministers, MP, MLAs and other Congress leaders staged a sit-in outside the Election Commission office.

Speaking to the media, Mahesh Kumar Goud alleged that the Election Commission’s conduct was undermining democracy in the country. He said the functioning of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah had drawn global criticism and claimed that the future of voters was at stake. He alleged that the special voter-list revision process had contributed to the defeat of the RJD in Bihar and the TMC in West Bengal. He further alleged that officials were also expressing concern over the Election Commission’s functioning and accused it of acting in favour of the BJP. Goud also alleged that Meenakshi Natarajan’s seat had been “stolen” and said protests were being held across the country under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge.
